Finishing can influence how a package looks, feels and performs in a retail or gift setting. It works best when it is selected to support the product and brand—not added as an isolated decoration.
Lamination and coating
Gloss lamination can create a reflective surface, while matte lamination provides a softer, less reflective appearance. UV coating can be used to add surface emphasis to selected printed areas. The right option depends on the desired visual effect and how the package will be handled.
Foil stamping
Hot foil stamping can add focused emphasis to a logo, pattern or product name. It is often considered for brand-led packaging where a smaller number of details need to stand out from the printed surface.
Embossing and debossing
Embossing raises selected elements, while debossing presses them into the surface. Both can add tactile detail to a package and are best planned with the artwork, material and structure in mind.
Make finishing part of the full specification
Before sampling, review the intended finish together with the box structure, paperboard and artwork. This helps ensure the final appearance is practical to produce and aligned with the project’s presentation goals.
Start with the desired product presentation, then select only the finishing details that reinforce it.
